Being an elephant lover, this is my new favorite plant – HANDS DOWN! It is called Elephant Head, or Elephanthead lousewort (Pedicularis groenlandica). One look and you can see how it got its common name. It is found along meadows and stream banks in June through August. These pictures were taken July 21 just off the Iron Creek trail near Stanley, ID. If you are a fan of elephants – they are worth the trip!
